Ports, Customs and Free Zone” donates 68 Devices to the “Donate Your Own Device” Campaign

The Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation participated in the “DYOD: Donate Your Own Device” campaign under the slogan “Donate to Learn,” which is organized by the Digital School, one of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s Global Initiatives, in cooperation with the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, by donating a number of electronic devices, amounting to 68 devices. It will be recycled and refurbished to serve efforts to develop future education solutions for less fortunate students around the world. In this context, Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, stated that the Corporation’s participation in the “DYOD: Donate Your Own Device” campaign comes as an affirmation of its commitment to its social responsibility towards building a more solidaristic and sustainable society by providing educational opportunities to less fortunate students around the world, as it reflects the value of giving inherent in the UAE society. His Excellency pointed out that the DYOD campaign comes as a translation of the directives of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, regarding the necessity of enhancing digital education applications and solutions in an effort to reduce the digital and knowledge gap among students around the world by providing electronic devices to students in need that support the educational process for less fortunate digital school students around the world. His Excellency said that the campaign combines humanitarian and technological initiatives to serve groups in need, and our participation reflects the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation’s commitment to its social responsibility, and its keenness to build a more solidaristic and sustainable society by providing educational opportunities for all by employing advanced technology solutions in the digital education system. His Excellency continued: “Providing sources of learning and knowledge to the new generation is one of the main elements aimed at enabling them to participate effectively in developing societies and catching up with the future, and empowering students with their human right to learn and acquire the sciences and skills that enable them to create their future and the future of their societies”.
